About CalcTax

CalcTax.ca is a free tax calculator built for Canadians. We provide fast, accurate income tax estimates for all 13 provinces and territories — with no signup, no ads, and no data collection.

Why We Built This

Most tax calculators online are either behind a signup wall, loaded with ads, or send your financial data to a server. We believe Canadians deserve a simple tool that respects their privacy. CalcTax runs entirely in your browser — your income, deductions, and tax results never leave your device.

How Our Calculations Work

Every calculation is performed client-side using JavaScript. We apply the same progressive tax bracket math that the CRA uses:

• Federal income tax across all 5 brackets (including the 2025 blended 14.5% rate)
• Provincial/territorial income tax with province-specific brackets and surtaxes
• CPP/QPP contributions (base + enhanced CPP2 on higher earnings)
• EI premiums (with Quebec's reduced rate)
• QPIP for Quebec residents
• Dividend gross-up and tax credits (eligible and ineligible)
• Capital gains at 50% inclusion
• RRSP and FHSA deductions

Our Data Sources

All tax rates, brackets, and thresholds are sourced from official publications:

• Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) — federal tax brackets, CPP/EI rates, basic personal amounts
• Provincial finance departments — provincial tax brackets and credits
• Revenu Québec — Quebec-specific rates (QPP, QPIP, provincial brackets)

Rates are verified against multiple sources and updated for each tax year. Our 2025 rates reflect all changes as of March 2026, including the federal rate reduction introduced by Bill C-4.

Limitations

CalcTax provides estimates only. Our calculators apply the basic personal amount tax credit but do not account for all possible credits, deductions, or individual circumstances. For a complete tax assessment, consult a qualified tax professional. See our full disclaimer.

How We Earn Revenue

CalcTax earns revenue through affiliate partnerships. After you use our calculators, we may recommend relevant products like tax filing software.
